Complete In The Canal (CIC)

How completely-in-canal hearing aids work

A completely-in-canal (CIC) hearing aid sits entirely inside the ear canal, so it is hard to see from the side. Some are custom-made from an impression of your ear; others are ready-to-wear and fit with soft sleeves in different sizes.

Because the microphone sits inside the ear, it benefits from the natural shape of the outer ear, which helps with sound direction and wind noise.

Who they suit

CICs are usually suited to mild to moderate hearing loss and to people who want the most discreet device. The small size limits battery capacity, speaker power and the number of features, and wireless streaming is not available on every model.

They are not suitable for every ear: a narrow or very curved ear canal, heavy wax build-up or frequent ear infections can rule them out. An ear examination and hearing test tell us whether a CIC will be comfortable and effective for you.
