How rechargeable hearing aids work
Rechargeable hearing aids use a built-in lithium-ion battery instead of disposable batteries. You place them in their charger at night and they are ready in the morning. A full charge typically lasts a full day of wear, including some phone streaming.
The charger switches the hearing aids off automatically, and many charging cases can be carried in a bag for travel.
Who they suit
Rechargeable models suit people with arthritis, tremor or poor eyesight who find small battery doors difficult, and anyone who streams a lot from their phone.
Like any rechargeable battery, capacity slowly declines over several years. Keep the charger plugged in and connected to power; in areas with frequent load-shedding, a charging case with its own built-in battery or a power bank keeps you covered. We go through charging routines with you at the fitting.
